Jaclyn & Ry - August 6th, 2016 - Dover Hall Estate - Richmond Wedding Venue

Jaclyn & Rys were married on August 6th, 2016. This couple was such a joy to work with; they are young, energetic, kind, and just so much fun to be around. It is obvious not only how much they loved each other, but how much they appreciate and care for everybody in their life.

One perk of booking your wedding day at Dover Hall Estate is that we give our couples complimentary access to the estate to get your engagement photos taken.  See our blog post here about why we think engagement photos are important. Jaclyn & Rys took advantage of this opportunity, and we are so glad they did..the photos are adorable! Their engagement photos were taken by their wedding photographer, Rebecca Keeling Studios. See the rest of the shoot on Rebecca's blog here! All photos on this blog are by Rebecca Keeling Studios.

As you can see above, it was a BEAUTIFUL day.  The girls started off their morning by coming out to Dover Hall and relaxed while getting their hair and makeup done by Lou Steven's Glam Squad. Rys and his groomsmen showed up a little later on and hung out in the billiards room.

Jaclyn & Rys' ceremony was offsite at Saint Bridget Catholic Church.  Once the boys finished up their lunch and final touches, their limo picked them up and took them to ceremony.  Once the boys were out of site the girls were picked up in a trolly!

They said their "I Do's" then came back to Dover Hall for their cocktail hour and reception!

The wedding was so colorful, it matched Jaclyn & Rys' bubbly personalities!

Jaclyn is an animal lover, so her mom surprised her with these adorable cake pops! Aren't they amazing? We had never seen anything like them before, now we are obsessed!

During the planning process we always ask our couples "band or DJ?" to which Jaclyn and Rys said "Both!" They had The Janitors play a few sets while DJ Bill Gilliam played in between the sets.  Bill was also the Master of Ceremonies.  Bill loves getting to know his clients, and he wrote a little story about how Jaclyn and Rys met.  Take it away Bill...

Before we go any further, a little story of how we all ended up here to celebrate a marriage. Back in the summer of 2012, a nice young girl was working at a place called Woodside Equine Hospital...that was Jaclyn...who met a nice young night veterinary technician, that was Rys. It seems Rys arrived early for his shift one night while Jaclyn was involved in the very glamorous activity of...mucking stalls...and they struck up a conversation. This went on every other weekend for a month or two....Rys talking while Jaclyn talked and...mucked stalls.

Then one night Rys asked Jaclyn if she would like to head to his house to have pizza and watch Fraggle Rock. Without hesitation, Jaclyn said yes...Fraggle Rock and pizza!

It didn’t take long for the relationship to grow. Rys knew this was serious, and he professed his love for Jaclyn.. to which Jaclyn responded (not I love you too..).no, she said “love is a serious word Rys!” But she knew it was serious too, and knew it was love a short time later when she realized that she couldn’t live without him.

Here’s what Jaclyn says she loves about Rys... “I love that I can be my true self around Rys. I love his goofiness and down to earth nature...Fraggle Rock...He has the most caring and warm heart, he’s my best friend!

Here’s what Rys had to say about his love for Jaclyn... “She’s fun, and like me, can be easily entertained...Fraggle Rock...so we’re never bored. She even tolerates my attempts to include her in my video games. I love Jaclyn because she always supports me and keeps me positive.

So it only seemed natural for these two to get married, right?! Our man Rys hatched a pretty clever little proposal plan. Knowing how important family is to Jaclyn, he planned it to happen during the Cartabiano family vacation at Smith Mountain Lake last August. One night, after a family dinner, Rys and Jaclyn went on a walk down to the dock where two chairs had been set out with a lit candle between them. Shortly thereafter (with EVERYONE watching from the porch above) Rys got down on one knee, and asked Jaclyn to marry him..which she responded YES! They then walked back to the top deck where the whole crew was waiting with lit sparklers to start the engagement celebration.

So after a year of excitement, planning, and preparations..here we are to celebrate this sweet couple and their marriage today. Put your hands together and welcome our guests of honor, the new Mr. & Mrs. Rys Davis!”

Just like they celebrated their engagement, they celebrated the end of their wedding day surrounded by all of their loved ones with sparklers! It was such a pleasure getting to know both of you and your families.  Thank you for letting us be included in your special day.  We wish you both nothing but the best for the future.  Congratulations Jaclyn & Rys!
